Grassy Bar Co. Vdp Project
-
I completed a comprehensive rebrand of Grassy Bar Oyster Company that refreshed its visual identity while preserving its coastal charm and small-town character. The project centered on developing a strategic marketing campaign that connected with three distinct audiences: the eco-conscious diner, the casual diner, and the wholesale buyer. To support this approach, I designed three personalized postcards using XMPie variable data printing, allowing dynamic text, imagery, and messaging to automatically adapt based on audience data while maintaining a cohesive brand identity.
To further strengthen customer engagement, I designed an Oyster Punch Card that encourages repeat visits and builds long-term brand loyalty. This piece complements the direct mail campaign by extending the customer experience beyond a single interaction and fostering an ongoing relationship between consumers and the business.

One of the primary challenges of this project was developing a cohesive brand system that could appeal to three distinct audiences while maintaining the authentic, coastal identity of Grassy Bar Oyster Company. Each audience segment had different motivations and purchasing behaviors, requiring thoughtful research and strategy to determine how messaging, imagery, and design elements should adapt. Additionally, creating variable data postcards through XMPie required careful planning of data fields, audience rules, and dynamic design elements to ensure each personalized version remained visually consistent and functioned correctly. Balancing customization with a unified brand experience was essential to creating a campaign that felt both personal and recognizable.

These challenges were addressed through a research-driven design process that prioritized audience understanding and brand consistency. Detailed customer personas were developed to identify the unique needs, behaviors, and preferences of each target group, allowing the messaging and visual elements to be tailored with purpose. Within XMPie, careful organization of data fields and variable rules ensured that personalized content could be generated accurately while maintaining a cohesive layout across all versions of the postcards. Through testing and refinement, the final campaign successfully balanced individualized communication with a unified brand identity, demonstrating how strategic design and variable data printing can create meaningful customer connections.
